‘Twas the night before School Pt. 2

1 09 2008

‘Twas the night before school, when all through the house

MG & KG was crying and you could hear their shout;

Their clothes were ironed and laid out with care,

In hopes that school would start since the first day they weren’t there;

The children tossed and turned in their beds,

While visions of staying up and watching Sponge Bob dance in their heads;

And mamma on the computer, and the kids acting crazy like they were listening to rap,

There was no chance I was going to get a night cap,

When in the kitchen I heard some clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away from the bed I flew like a flash,

I tore in the kitchen to beat some a$$.

I gave KG some juice and made her go to sleep

It was like I blink my eyes then I heard the alarm beep,

Then I thought what else could appear,

I guarantee I won’t go through this next year,

I plan on having things together and they will go smooth,

I will get some sleep because twas the night before school.

Don’t Quit

Don’t Quit Poem
by anonymous

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest! if you must; but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow;
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit;
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Our Deepest Fear

Our Deepest Fear
By Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others
